While completing my placement year at Akuma Sports, I was redesigning their brochure for the range of customised rugby teamwear and leisurewear they produced. For the project’s main visual concept, I decided to go with a clean and modern design that is almost reminiscent of technical drawings or blueprints. A big selling point of Akuma is customisation, so we wanted to use this concept to promote this USP of the brand.
After doing this initial research and development and settling on a concept and layouts for the new brochure, I started to work on creating and curating the content. I worked individually to create some content, mainly illustrations and photography, but I also worked with others and helped direct them to assist with copywriting and designing certain pages. I acted as the art director for this project, ensuring the work we were all creating for the brochure fit the concept.
