This was a project I took part in, a collaboration with Akuma Sports and Jonathan Bradford, to redesign the Coventry Flames kit for the 23/24 season. The jersey’s main body contains a faded pattern made up of the Flames logo that rises across the body to represent the idea of Coventry rising from the flames after the bombing during the war. The side of the jerseys contains a graffiti-style version of the Flames Logo; this was created with the help of Jonathan Bradford at Akuma. Basketball is a very popular sport in Coventry, and many of the players started out playing on one of the various outdoor street courts in the city. These are often overlooked, run down and covered in graffiti. There are also many street art murals around the city, so we wanted to include an element in the design that references these aspects of Coventry. As a part of this project, I also art-directed a photoshoot and created various promotional materials, including a video to promote the new kit on social media.
